Uploading a new video.
On the main D.tube page click on the icons you see below. (both go to the same page)
This will redirect you to the main upload page, here 3 options for upload will be presented to you.
I will explain how two of them are used.
First there's the ‘Third party’ aka Twitch, YouTube, Dailymotion, Instagram, LiveLeak, Vimeo and Facebook). (More options are coming soon)
This gives you the option to past a link from any video publicly available on the above mentioned platforms. (BUT if the video gets removed on those sites it will also be unavailable on D.tube)
The second option is 'File Upload', like it says, this is best for simplicity and small files.
(File Upload is a simple version of the Peer-to-peer upload option)
But there are some restrictions when uploading like this, the max resolution is only 480P and videos with low views and older than 6 months might get hidden from search results!
Important; keep in mind that any video uploaded to this platform by File Upload and Peer-to-peer CAN NOT BE DELETED, EVER! (they can be hidden on the DTube platform but not from the internet)
So keep this it in mind when you upload.
Once accepted or your video finishes uploading, you will be redirected to a page where you can edit the details of the video you just have linked/uploaded.
(Most details will already be pre-filled for you if you use the 'Third party' upload option)
This is also when you can attribute VP points to boost your video on the platform.
From experience you should attribute a minimum between 1K and 2K VP. (1K = 1000)
If you attribute less than 1K your VP investment will be wasted and you will never earn DTC from your videos.
You cannot vote with 0 VP, this will generate an error and the vote will not happen.
The checkbox NSFW is for all mature, gore and porn content.
(if you don't tag your NSFW videos as NSFW, they will be downvoted 👎🏻 and blocked on d.tube)
The checkbox Original Content in the image below is an option in development, semi-functional, it simply saves your choice on upload and locks the checkbox, but don't check it if you are re-uploading someone else's content!
Alternatively you can promote the video by attributing DTC on top of VP, you can do this by clicking on the Promote this video check box and choose the desired amount of DTC to use for this action.
DTC used in this action is converted back into VP and accumulated on top of the VP spent originally on the vote.
Important to know, before you enter a Tag.
Only one Tag can be attributed per vote 👍🏻👎🏻 but is not required.
Uploading a new video always counts as an upvote 👍🏻.
Videos can have multiple Tags, but the possibility to have more Tags relies on other user's votes.
Tagging is irreversible and cannot be edited.
Tags can also be downvoted 👎🏻 by other users.
If you down or upvote and use a Tag, this will increase or decrease the Tag's rank on a video and its location in the search results.
The VP used on a vote is automatically attributed to the Tag too (if a Tag is used).
All Tags given to a video are ranked by VP attribution, the more VP from votes a Tag gets the higher that Tag will rank on that video, Tags will also determine how high your video will be ranked in search for any of the Tags used on your video.
(keep all of this in mind)
Also try to use Trending Tags, they will grant you more viewers.
(You can find the currently most trending tags on the main D.tube page)
Adding more video sources.
Remember when I said that if your video gets removed from the original site it will be unavailable on d.tube too?
Well there’s a solution for this, see that menu in the image below, that says ADD VIDEO?
This is where you can add more sources for your videos. (You can also remove sources)
This will bring you back to the upload page where you can chose your preferred upload option.
When uploading this way your are bounding multiple sources to the player, now the viewer of the video can chose the sources you provided to watch the video.
When you have checked and re-checked everything press Publish Video.
If you get a pop-up window like this image then you lack bandwidth, just wait a bit and try again.
But If you see a red square show up in the top right corner, it can mean 3 things.
Its a bug, try again later
You are posting with zero VP, add some VP first.
You lack VP, wait till you have regenerated some VP.
